Hire a Teen

The Hire a Teen, Brighten the Future Youth Job Campaign is a collaborative effort to match enthusiastic youth to job openings provided by employers. This campaign connects employers to work-ready youth to help meet their staffing needs, while connecting youth to meaningful work experiences.

This campaign will build up to an annual spring job-a-thon, with business and community leaders volunteering to call upon employers to pledge youth job opportunities. (PDF Pledge form available here) Volunteers will also be accepting tax-deductible donations to help subsidize youth wages. A donation of $150 will pay one youth for one week of work in a community service project, however any amount will help support these youth.

This campaign will be developed locally in Attleboro, Foxborough, Mansfield, North Attleborough and Norton in partnership with the Bristol Workforce Investment Board, Attleboro School to Career Partnership, United Regional Chamber of Commerce, Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, Attleboro Career Center, Attleboro, Foxborough, North Attleborough & Norton High Schools.

All youth will receive various levels of work readiness preparation to ensure all youth are work-ready at the time they interview with an employer. Additionally, youth will be connected to a career specialist to coach them in their new work experience, as appropriate.

This campaign helps to inform employers of the year round resources available to help meet their staffing and workforce development needs. It also provides employers with an opportunity to identify potential future employees and help shape the region’s workforce.

This campaign benefits the youth of our communities by providing meaningful work experiences to gain valuable and marketable skills, such as communication, work ethic, teamwork and leadership. The latest research conducted by the Mass Department of Education indicated that, “youth who work during high school are less likely to drop out of school, compared to their non-working peers.” Additionally, work experience provides awareness of career options and opportunities, helping to build a stable future workforce.
