The Summer Work and Learning Program provides supervised
work experience and MCAS tutoring for qualified students during a six
week period in the summer. Students work 20 hours a week at selected
work sites. These include the City of Attleboro’s Police and Fire
Departments, Planning Department, Inspection Department, and Parks and
Recreation Department. Sturdy Memorial Hospital also hosts students
in the copy center, billing, storeroom and food preparation areas.
The summer program enrolled 30 students and 28
students (93%) completed all six weeks of the program. All 30 students
(100%) experienced skill gains in at least one work-based learning program
skill area and 26 (87%) had skill gains in a minimum of two areas.
All students indicated that they would not have sought assistance in
MCAS remediation this past summer if it were not for this program.
If you are interested in hosting students and
giving them the opportunity to gain valuable work skills, we will support
your company with a worksite coordinator and a tutor to provide the
academic remediation. You may contact us at 508-222-5150 ext.307 or
e-mail us at clachance@schooltocareer.info.
